Honest to blog

Movies generally don’t make me teary-eyed. I didn’t cry at the end of Old Yeller or Titanic or even American Graffiti when the ‘55 Chevy! wrecked. No, I’m a hard-ass when it comes to watching flicks and keeping the water works under control. The Notebook made me laugh, even. God, the husband is such a puss when it comes to that movie. Anyhow!
The only movie that I can recall to make me a bit misty-eyed is ConAir. Yeah, at the end when Nicolas Cage meets up with the wifey and kid *sniff* Heartbreaker.
But then I saw Juno over the weekend, and the boohoo-to-a-movie list is now up to two. It was just an incredibly sweet movie. Yeah, a 16-year-old pregnancy flick made me tear. So I’m not so much a hard-ass as some would think. I’m not. But this movie fucking rocked.
Twenty minutes into it, and I was wanting the soundtrack. I don’t feel that way toward too many shows, as a lot of them just suck. But this! this was a great score, and it was generally singer/songwriter-y types and it was most excellent. Also, I have to give some major props to Sonic Youth’s cover of “Superstar” by the Carpenters *swoon* Fan-fucking-tastic.

I’ve heard lots of good things from lots of folks about this film. I’m gonna have to break down rent it. Thanks, Red.
You ol’ softy you.
It’s a good one.
Now dont go ’round telling folks Im a softy
Red
I haven’t seen it yet, but now I’ll have to just to see if it evokes the same response from me.
I think you’d enjoy it .. it’s quite funny.
Red
I have to agree. I did the boo-hoo through a lot of it. Weren’t the lines all just written fantastically?
I, too, cry over Con-Air. So weird!
But then I’m with your husband. I can cry over a tampax commercial.
Yes, I thought it was written just perfectly .. the sarcasm and wit was fan-fucking-tastic.
Red
Oh snap, I thought I was the only one who cried at the end of ConAir! Thank you for validating my hardcoreness in the face of such events. Is it weird that those David Suzuki pro-environment commercials make me a bit weepy with all those kids fearing for their electricity-less future? No? Just me? Ok. Still hardcore though.
yes, you’re still hardcore to the uhh .. core
Red
I have this movie but I haven’t watched it yet … you’ve convinced me that I must watch is asap. But I can’t believe you gave away the ending to American Graffiti! Gawd, I’ve been meaning to see that and now you’ve ruined it!
I hate that movie.
Just kiddin’
Oh man, AG is one of my most favoriteist movies.
I do hope you enjoy Juno .. it’s a goodie.
Red
I loved Con Air. “He’s got the whole world in his hands…”
I will have to watch JUNO now and see if it makes me sniffle too.
ConAir is one of my favorite. Gotta love Nic Cage.
You’ll like Juno .. the wit/sarcasm is just right for you!
Red
This is why blogging rocks. Just when you think you are the biggest puss in the world for getting misty eyed at the end of Juno, you find out that a whole bunch of other people did too! I feel good about now knowing that it made you misty eyed too! And I’m sorry but the best part of Conair is when the one guy who’s name I can never remember is describing irony.
Im so glad you dont think you’re the only puss out there. There is a whole lot of us pussies
Red
Shit, I forgot to say that Juno also had me running out and getting the soundtrack too! There are 2 and they are equally awesome and totally worth it!
There are 2?!! I got one of ‘em and it’s awesome.
Red
Sonic Youth rock and Superstar is a great cover. Juno is on the way from Netflix, so we’ll see it soon.
Oh yes, Sonic Youth brought back some killer memories .. I had to break out a few CDs after that.
Red
Pregnant teens scare me. Not as much as when I was a horny teen running around. But you never really get over that kind of thing.
haha, I suppose, Evyl. It’s a normal kinda thang here in Kentucky
Red
OMG Juno was AWESOME!
“As far as boyfriends go, Paulie Bleeker is totally boss. He is the cheese to my macaroni. And, I know that people are supposed to fall in love before they reproduce, but… I guess normalcy isn’t really our style.”
Totally heart it!
hhahaha! Yes, heather .. I loved that line.! It was perfect.
Red
I just saw Juno TODAY!! I sniffled, too. Loved the last look at the baby’s room, to see the note framed!? aawww.
hahhahaaa! yes! But I was sniffling before that part
Red
I love that movie. And I think the soundtrack is the best thing since sliced bread.
I know, right?
Red

I haven’t seen it yet, but I have to say that I always, ALWAYS tear us during Steel Magnolias.
I dont watch SM anymore, as the death scene (and after) hit too close to home, ya know. Too sad.
Red
So, you really liked this movie, eh? I wasn’t sure I wanted to see it but maybe I will. I love me some good chick flicks.
Annie
Liked it? I dont own many movies, but this is one I’d go out and purchase.
It’s a good warm-hearted chick flick .. with mucho sarcasm.
Red
Awesome movie, loved every minute of it! Jason Bateman’s character was a little creepy though…. just say’n.
When I watch it again, I’ll have to pay more attention to the muzak
You didn’t cry watching TITANIC? Ok, please tell me you don’t make fun of your husband when he cries…. ‘cuz if so, you suck!
Bateman, right, I know .. I was waiting for him to start cutting people up or fuck Juno.
And no, Titanic didnt make me cry.
I AM a sucker, dammit, because I doooo make fun of him when he cries at movies.
Red
Aww…Juno is a fantastic movie!!! You know what you should see next? “Lars and the Real Girl” (about a guy who has a “blow-up doll” for a girlfriend)…now that’s an off-beat, unassuming but sweet movie, I think you would like it Red!
Ive been wanting to see that .. but then I saw a documentary not too long ago about real men living with life-size dolls and it reallllly disturbed me. But I’ll rent it if you say it’s good.
Red
Ha! Ha! I knew you’d make fun of him for crying, I just had a suspicion. Seems like in couples; one is a crier and one not so much! Ugh, I HATE it when people make fun of me for crying — you are such a little brat sometimes!
hahah, but see, i wouldnt make fun of you for crying. that’d just be mean
And i only laugh when he cries during the Notebook.
Red
Damn I’ve been wanting to watch this movie. I heard it was great.
It really is .. I think you’d like it.
Red
